Acupoints: Kidney 3 – Tai Xi – Supreme Stream
Kidney 3 – Tai Xi – is one of the most important acupoints for strengthening and restoring the vital energy of Kidneys.
The Kidneys are the root of all the Yin and Yang energy of the whole body, and this point can help to strengthen both Yin and Yang, and so can be used for Yin Deficiency (feelings of heat, flushing, night sweats & irritability) or Yang Deficiency (feelings of cold, low energy, little motivation, poor digestion & depression).
It is also used as an important point in Yangsheng (self-cultivation) practice to maintain health and well-being by strengthening Yin and Yang. It can be used regularly to improve the overall function of the body and increase energy reserves.
This powerful point also helps to ‘anchor’ the Qi from the Lungs. This means that it is used for problems of breathing, such as weak or shallow breathing, wheezing, coughing and asthma.
The Kidneys are obviously located in the lower back, and this Kidney-strengthening point helps to strengthen the lower back, and can help with chronic back pain, stiffness and discomfort.
Location: On the inside of the ankle. In the depression between the ankle bone and the Achilles tendon. This point is easy to find, and there is an obvious ‘dip’ that feels just right to slide your finger into.
Using Kid-3: Apply moderate pressure with a finger or thumb for around a minute on each side, or until you feel the Qi sensation. Use at least once per week as part of a yang Sheng health maintenance routine, or up to daily for an acute condition.
